Berlin: later this year, Rocket Internet will launch its new venture Shopwings: as revealed by the Berlin incubator in its IPO prospectus, a platform for food shopping will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2014. The concept seems to be a platform that combines people who want need groceries, with people who are willing to buy and deliver it to them.
Accordig to the prospectus, Shopwings is operated by a Luxemburg-based Holding, called Digital Services Holding XXI S.à r.l. The same holding also registred the Shopwings.com domain. Regitrant is Christoph Harsch, who also seems to be responsible for the German branch of Shopwings.
The connection to the Samwer –Incubator becomes clear at second sight: on a job board the company posted a vacancy for its Munich branche. The contact person named, is a Rocket Internet employee.
Second in charge of Shopwings Germany is Florian Jaeger, who founded Mywineportal.com together with Harsch in 2011. Rocket Top-manager Arnt Jeschke is also involved, who manages finances for Shopwings Germany. ‘Deutsche Startups’ found out that Shopwings is publicly looking for shoppers for its platform: On the website Einkaufer.de –also a Shopwing domain- people are scouted who "are willing to supply people in their vicinity"
With this new venture, Rocket further expands its mediation websites portfolio as it also initiated mediation in: Cleaning (Helpling) , Restaurant services (HelloFood) , Fintech (Spotcap) , Bustrips(Clickbus) and Taxis (Easytaxi). Rocket’s latest two start-ups were gourmet delivery service Eatfirst and Online Credit platform Spotcap.
