HUDSON’S BAY

In September 2017 the Hudson’s Bay Company opened their first store in the Netherlands.They currently have 10 stores in place. They initially planned to open 10 more in the years to come, but they expect now to open 5 more only.

ADDED VALUE

It looks like the first results have not been that great: the stores are not as busy as they might had expected. Some people question their right for existence within the Dutch Retail Landscape: a few major retail formulas disappeared over the last few years due to changing consumer preferences and their shift to online.

MARKET  RESEARCH

We wanted to know if the new Hudson’s Bay stores have an added value within the Dutch retail landscape. What do consumers think of them: are they willing to shop with them now and in the future?

Together with Veylinx, we conducted market research among a total of 1,195 consumers. We asked them about their opinions on the Hudson Bay stores and a set of competing companies.

VEYLINX  RESEARCH

On top of that we measured consumers’ Willingness to Shop in various department  stores, with the help of the unique Veylinx method that measures true consumer behavior.

The Research was performed in December 2017 and January 2018
