German publisher Axel Springer killed its coupon app Last Minute Local. A company spokesperson said “ this project will no longer continue in spite of several successful customer relationships, since we already cover some aspects of the market with other companies, projects and initiatives", hereby referring to location based app Shopnow and brochure app Kaufda.
He also added "The idea is to make users via their smart phone on local offers attentive, but we find more exciting".
The app gave users an overview of offers located in their vicinity. This would help in matters of starting business such as retailers. Springer saw this app as the new way for advertisers to reach local customers. The app was developed by Michael Masuth in only six months time.
In june this year Springer already ended its social TV app TunedIn . Co-chief Ulrich Mach of the incubator program said, "Many of our projects have potential, some will surely fail."
